Social Studies 6 Major Units of Study There are 4 ‘Big Ideas’ that we will explore as we progress through our yearlong study: 1. Economic self-interest can be a significant cause of conflict among peoples and governments. 2. Complex global problems require international cooperation to make difficult choices for the future. 3. Systems of government vary in their respect for human rights and freedoms 4. Media sources can both positively and negatively affect our understanding of important events and issues.

They are based on a compilation of projects, tests, inclass assignments, independent assignments, participation and student self-assessment.
