Contact Tracing Process Step 1: The Contact Tracing Team is notified of a positive COVID-19 case on campus 1 2 3 4 The Contact Tracers (CT) will call the person who tested positive for COVID-19 to conduct a full case intake interview The CT will provide support, information, and resources on isolation The CT will interview the impacted person to determine who may have been in close contact while they were infectious The CT will notify the impacted school or department and advise if disinfection is necessary Notify the CT team of a positive case via e-mail at covidtesttrace@columbia. edu or to the Columbia University COVID-19 hotline at 212 -854 -9355 (Monday–Friday, 9 am– 5 pm)
New CDC Definition of a Close Contact “Contact tracing has been initiated, and all those deemed as close contacts (within 6 feet for over 10 minutes in a single instance, or within 6 feet for over a cumulative time of 15 minutes or more within a 24 hour period) will be notified and given instructions on quarantine, testing, and other follow up. ”
Contact Tracing: Notification of Close Contacts Step 2: The Contact Tracing Team notifies the close contacts of their status and next steps. 1 2 3 The Contact Tracers (CT) will call the individuals who have been identified as a close contact by the infected person The CT will provide support, information, and resources on quarantine procedures The CT will notify the school or department when all close contacts have been reached 4 The CT team will frequently check in with those who are in isolation and quarantine NOTE: If the Contact Tracing Team does notify you, you have not been deemed a closed contact and you do not need to quarantine.

Updated NYS Travel Guidance Travelers must quarantine for 14 days from the last day in a non-border state or another country (CDC Level 2 or Level 3 Health Notice countries), unless the traveler meets certain criteria. For travelers who were out-of-state less than 24 hours, no quarantine is necessary: Exemptions: • Travelers from NJ, CT, PA, MA, VT • Essential workers who are deemed as such by their department (including front line healthcare workers, researchers, or some clinical students) may return to work with a negative test within 24 hours of their return but must adhere to all other appropriate precautions Fill out the New York State Traveler Health Form upon entry into New York State On day 4 after their arrival in New York, take a COVID diagnostic test https: //coronavirus. health. ny. gov/covid-alert-ny Travel-related testing can be scheduled at the Columbia testing sites.
