MEG-J meeting 11/Mar/2005 Yusuke Uchiyama 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 1
Pulse Shape Discrimination • Using DRS Waveform data, I did particle discrimination( ) Pulse shape of alpha is much sharper Decay time 45 ns 1/7/2022 Decay time Yusuke UCHIYAMA 4. 2 ns 2
• Get decay time by fitting is one of method, but it take much time (Ootani-san has already suggestted) • More simple and fast methods seem to work out well. • I took a method to use pulse width, – 1/7/2022 simply measure time width at the half maximum of the pulse height. Yusuke UCHIYAMA 3
• DRS data are still noisy after calibrated. • We have to reduce noise by means of some kind. Moving Average Each 50 cells ( correspond to 20 ns ) take average For small signal this is not enough. 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 4
Take Sum Take sum over 12 ch (all of Xe channels at this time). When take sum, I true up timing of peaks Pulse width [nsec] Pi 0 run Alpha run (beam off) Pulse height[m. V] Separated! but 2 alpha like peaks 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 5
Spike reduction • I tried to remove spike noise. Fit spike with function; 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 6
Spike subtracted 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 7
Moving average and sum 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 8
Indicate availability for pile up rejection 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 9 Pulse height[m. V]
~33 ns 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 10
~94 ns 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 11
Application for Trigger • I exam whether this method can be use for trigger using FADC. • FADC sampling speed will be much slow. • Thinned data point (after spike removed) 10 ns apart(one point every 25 points). • Sampling start point randomly “Virtual” FADC Data (100 MHz) 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 12
This time sum over 3 ch. Not true up timing. Directly sum up thinned data. 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 13

Look still separated enough. 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 15
Cosmic Ray Study • I’ve just started cosmic ray study. • Investigating potentiality of Self Trigger. • Exploring ways to Reconstruct pass 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 16
Took data using very simple self trigger Linear sum of 16 PMTs output 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 17
Easily decide Incident and Exit position. Search npho two peak and take center of 9 PMTs 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 18
To do • Count rate • Compare with data triggered using counter. • Simulation • oblique incident event 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 19
Not bad… ? 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 20
and additional. . • Lab. VIEW Chart ; time goes out of order Two cause: • Chart initialization • Char mechanism and Process time Give up using chart and adopt XY-Graph • not add point but draw all point every time • so need buffer • worse smoothness when updating 1/7/2022 Yusuke UCHIYAMA 21
