Megatrends & Global Security Course (Brief information) • Master’s Program “Global and Regional Security and Conflict Resolutions” for IR students • Basic course (obligatory for students) • 6 credits (72 contact hours) • 20 -24 students in the group • E -methods; additional materials in English, which are available in Internet (http: //media. ls. urfu. ru/335/ (Global Security)
Reasons for developing new course • To avoid the doubling topics • To give the students the opportunity to find connection between global issues and security • To develop critical thinking towards global and security issues • To make an attempt to prognose the basic world trends for nearest 50 -100 years and its influence on global security and Russia’s national security
Structure of the Course Globaliz ation & Trends Security New Agenda for XXI Century 72 contact hours • 18 hours – lectures; • 54 hours – seminars.
Challenges • Theoretical – what Globalization is, what connection is between Globalization and Modern trends? • Methodological – how to construct the course, what topics are more ‘important’? • Teaching methods – to develop different types of seminars with problem solving questions. • Subjective - Student’s basic stereotypes, multicultural group and etc.
