MEET THE TEACHER INFORMATION EVENING Class 6 New Beginnings • Coming into the classroom – handwriting/reading. • New routines and responsibilities – office/buddy system/tuck shop. • Cracking Tables - Monday. • Muddy Mondays – Every Monday, a lesson will be held outside and children need to be dressed appropriately.

MEET THE TEACHER INFORMATION EVENING Class 6 Home Learning in this class: Monday: Maths – a short activity or game to consolidate learning intentions – due in on Thursday. Literacy OR Creative Curriculum – often a mini project/research task – due in by a given date depending on the task. Or, a short grammar based, comprehension or writing task - due in on Thursday. Talk home learning and The Big Write – a discussion based task in preparation for Thursday’s unaided writing session. Friday: Spelling – a short task with an element of choice – due in on Tuesday. READING – approximately 20 minutes most nights. Children have reading journals that must be completed at least once a week (checked weekly). Please encourage comments such as, “I like/don’t like this book because…” You may also comment if you wish to do so. Please ensure children have a reading book (from school or home) and their purple reading journal in school everyday. CRACKING TABLES - Mondays: Children will bring their “test paper” home to use as a revision aid for the following week. Changes in the lead up to SATs – home learning tasks will vary. Please ensure that work is named, stuck into books or put into folders etc as appropriate. Home learning tasks are to be placed in the box by the door before break time on a Thursday.

MEET THE TEACHER INFORMATION EVENING Class 6 SATs • May • Reading • Maths – 3 papers. • Literacy – SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar). • Writing is assessed and moderated by looking at each child’s written work in different curriculum areas. SPELLING LIST WORDS. • Very similar to the termly assessment weeks that have taken place every year of your child’s school life. After SATS: Leavers’ play, Vicarage, Trip, school visits etc.
