Meet The Teacher 3 MB MR BETHELL’S CLASS 3 JM/AMC MRS MYHILL AND MRS MCMAHON
Wishing you a warm welcome to year 3. SCHOOL WILL SEND EMAILS TO KEEP YOU UP-TO-DATE ABOUT ANYTHING HAPPENED WHICH IS RELATED TO COVID. When parents, teachers and children all work hard, we achieve more. It takes all 3 of us to help our children shine and reach their full potential.
Start and finish times To avoid lots of people passing through the gates at the same time. Our school day start and end times have changed. We are unsure how long this will go on for but it is likely to last till at least Christmas
CHILDREN WEAR OUTDOOR PE KIT ON 3 MB - MONDAY AND WEDNESDAYS. 3 JM/AMC – MONDAY AND TUESDAYS. NO EARINGS PLEASE PE SCHOOL UNIFORM ON ALL OTHER DAYS. BOTH LESSONS WILL BE OUTSIDE. 1 ON THE FIELD 1 ON THE PLAYGROUND
Reading is THE MOST IMPORTANT way to help your child do well at school. Books will change once a week Children need to read the same book lots of times. Children should read every single day at home. Children can read both their home reader and other books/magazines/online information. Write title and comments in the reading record every day (but at least 3 times each week)
What homework will my child have? Times Table Rock Starts Home reading books SPAG (online) Spellings Targeted work on Showbie Extra IXL maths, Oxford Owl reading books If you have any issues with accessing the internet, please contact school to let us know
How do I know how my child is doing in class? If we have any concerns, we will either speak to you before or after school or contact you by phone. As we can’t meet at the moment. You can always ring the office and request a phone call from your childs teacher if you are worried.
Tests This year, your child will be set Pira, Puma, arithmetic and Gaps tests each term. Pira – reading Puma – maths Arithmetic – calculations Gaps – grammar, punctuation and spelling
Covid – symptoms and what to do. Current COVID – Update As it stands at this moment it time… Blackburn with Darwen Local Authority are following the Public Health England advice of COVID symptoms. These are: • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature) • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual) • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal. If your child displays any of these symptoms, then please arrange for your child to take a test otherwise your child must attend as usual. Whilst you are awaiting you child’s test results, DO NOT send your child to school. Please ring the office to keep school informed regarding the matter.
What happens if there is a case of Covid in a class? If a class bubble goes into isolation… If your child’s bubble goes into isolation, you will receive information regarding home learning. Please ensure your check your emails. School will provide a DAILY home learning curriculum until the end of the isolation period. Using Showbie, your child must access a full day of learning each day so they stay up to date with the curriculum. We will hold at least 2 virtual meetings per day to support learning. These will be with your child’s class teacher and additional support staff. The teacher will set activities via Showbie linked to their specific curriculum/subject. Please ensure your child has access to their learning every school day. Showbie can be accessed on any device using the login details.
Thank you YOUR CHILDREN HAVE BEHAVED VERY WELL DURING OUR FIRST FEW DAYS BACK AND YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF HOW WELL THEY HAVE COPED WITH COMING BACK TO SCHOOL. YEAR 3 HAVE A CLASSES OF SUPER STARS! WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU THIS YEAR TO HELP YOUR CHILD ACHIEVE THEIR BEST.
