Grading Policies - Grade Distribution - 80% Mastery (i. e. tests, quizzes…) - 20% Practice (i. e. classwork) - Homework Nightly Expectation - Math: 20 minutes Language Acquisition: 30 minutes Sciences: 10 minutes Individuals and Societies: As necessary World Languages: As necessary
Curriculum ● ASL 1 A (first year): 14 units of study Focus: Deaf Culture and Vocabulary ● ASL 1 B( second year): 6 units of study Focus: Deaf Culture, Deaf History and Vocabulary This is a hands-on class. We need to see your hands, face and body to ensure that you are learning the language correctly. All ASL students are encouraged to attend a Deaf Event and practice their signing in the community. More information will follow.
Classroom Expectations ● ● ● Come in to class with voices off Come ready and prepared to learn Take out agenda and write homework EVERY DAY! * Get missing assignments and/or extra homework, if needed Personal belongings away ○ Water on the water table ○ Bags behind the tables on the tiles ○ Take out any necessary materials as instructed
Homework ● Every Monday a new homework assignment will be given out on pink paper. Most of the time it will be double-sided, so it will have the following weeks’ assignment on there as well. ● Homework will be checked every FRIDAY ● Please complete ALL of the homework, especially a parent/guardian signature ● You need to practice DAILY (websites, flashcards, games, apps) If you lose the homework, please get a new one! You are responsible for your learning.
