Media Evaluation: Media Institutions By Robert Snook
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? Media institutions such as Paramount Pictures might distribute my media product because they have in the past produced other psychological thrillers such as “Shutter Island” which is similar in principle to our product. “Shutter Island” is similar to my product because its main character is actually suffering from a mental illness and is merely imagining the events that are unfolding.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? The film Shutter Island follows a similar path as my product in terms of content as a journey of self discovery where the protagonists main enemy is themselves. Also it is within this genre of psychological thrillers that Paramount Pictures often distributes many films and my product, when compared to those in this genre, is very similar.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? Another example of a psychological thriller distributed by Paramount Picture is Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 film Rear Window in which the protagonist is injured with a broken leg and throughout the film watches the various goings on with his incapacitation leaving him helpless and leaving him a lack of control over events. This is a film from the psychological thriller genre and is similar to my film because events are going on around the protagonist but he is left in helpless incapacitation due to his injury or mental illness and so he cannot win against these enenmies until he is cured and healed.
