Device Movement Update ● The wall power supply arrived last night. ● Working on making the actuator cycle through a test. ● Working on measuring the displacement of the actuator compared with the potentiometer slack.
Actuator Precision ● ● At the moment, the measurements have all been in 1 mm increments and anything less has been an estimate. This means 2. 5% range for each value. At best, the actuator can do 0. 1 mm increments. This means the smallest value for the range would be 0. 25%. With the current slack showing, we are getting a possible range of of 0. 3 mm to 0. 6 mm (0. 7% to 1. 4%). Things could change when we find a better way to measure the distance.
% Strain Tolerances The table shows values of the generalized values. Due to material properties and accuracy of actuator, these strain values are generalized and may not be the actual values. % Strain Stretch (mm) % Range w/ accuracy (using 1. 4%) 5 2 3. 6 - 6. 4 10 4 8. 6 - 11. 4 15 6 13. 6 - 16. 4 20 8 18. 6 - 21. 4 Varying thickness in PDMS chamber could lead to a greater proportion of stretching in the well of the chamber.
Material Testing with Heat-Cured PDMS “N” Control PDMS cured at 100°C for 35 minutes. Testing tab slipping reduced with heat-cured samples. “I” Incubated at 37°C three days before material testing
