How to convert measurements HIGHER – LOWER MEASUREMENT v. Count how many steps are they from each other. In each step times it by ten. Kilo+ K+ Hecto+ H+ Deka+ USE THE STAIRS: Deci+ 5 KM - ? DM Centi+ c+ v. Since KM and DM are 2 steps m+ away from each Milli+ other, so times 10 two times. v 10 x 10 = 100 v 100 is DM only for one KM v. So times 100 to 5= 500 v. The conversion is 500 DM D+ + + d+ Here our some examples: 5 DL = ? dl v 10 x 10 = 100 (number of just 1 DL) v 100 x 5 (the number of DL’s needed to convert) = 500 ANSWER IS: 5 DL = 500 dl 3 HG = ? cg v 10 x 10 = 10, 000 (# of 1 HG v 10, 000 x 3 (# of HG’s needed to convert) = 30, 000 ANSWER IS: 3 HG = 30, 000 cg

How to convert measurements LOWER - HIGHER MEASUREMENT v. Count how many steps are they from each other. In each step times it by ten. Kilo+ K+ Hecto+ H+ Deka+ USE THE STAIRS: 5 DM - ? KM Deci+ v. Since KM and DM are 2 steps away Centi+ c+ from each other, so times 10 two times. v 10 x 10 = 100 Milli+ m+ v. So divide 100 to 5 using decimals v. Since they’re two zeros in 100, move two times to the 2 left from 5 and add a decimal sign in the end v. The conversion is . 005 D+ + + d+ Here our some examples: 5 d. L = ? Dl v 10 x 10 = 100 (number of just 1 DL) v 100 / 5 (the number of DL’s needed to convert) =. 005 ANSWER IS: 5 DL =. 005 DL 3 cg = ? HG v 10 x 10 = 10, 000 (# of 1 HG v 10, 000 / 3 (# of HG’s needed to convert) =. 00003 ANSWER IS: 3 HG =. 00003 cg

If they’re decimals: HIGHER - LOWER. 05 Dl - ? cl 10 x 10 = 1, 000 Since they’re three zero’s, move the decimal to the right 3 times It becomes 50 cl (centilitter) LOWER – HIGHER. 003 mg - ? DG 10 x 10 = 10, 000 Kilo+ K+ Since they’re four zero’s, move the decimal to the left 4 times IT BECOMES. 00000003 mg (milligram) Hecto+ H+ Deka+ + + Deci+ d+ Centi+ c+ Milli+ m+ D+

THAT’S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE METRIC MEASURE SYSTEM AND CONVERTION
