PGC 5009 Fast Process GC The Value Proposition The Refinery Challenge A relatively small

PGC 5009 Fast Process GC The Value Proposition The Refinery Challenge A relatively small shift in the cut point for any refinery product can cost refiners millions in profits. In the absence of fast, accurate and reproducible boiling point data, refinery product yields are not optimized and more importantly, significant profits are lost. The ABB Solution With a patented resistively heated column design and rapid cooling system, the PGC 5009 provides superior chromatography for simulated distillation in less than 5 minutes. The results are proven: accurate and reproducible retention times and weight percentage measurements required for boiling point curve calculation enable optimized refinery process control and minimize lost profits. The Elevator Message A three week payback via tight refinery product cut point control and catalyst life extension and millions captured annually in profits. November 9, 2020 Slide 5

PGC 5009 Fast Process GC Key Product Features Fast Thermal Response for Short Analysis

PGC 5009 Fast Process GC Key Product Features Fast Thermal Response for Short Analysis Cycle Times – 4 to 5 times faster than ASTM D 86 analyzers allowing for process control – Less slop generation during product specification changes – Faster return to optimized control parameters after crude slate/feed changes – Faster response to unit upsets reestablishment of control High Analyzer Precision Enables Tight Process Control – No need for peak alignment to compensate for design weaknesses and measurement variability – Reduces the ‘giveaway’ in product blends and assures high blend product quality – Enables control strategies to extend unit run-length and/or minimize capital investment High Information Content – Rich diagnostics in boiling point curves to process upsets and feed or blend component changes – Multiple measurement points and excellent reproducibility to manage several product specs simultaneously – Additional component concentration values such as butane for RVP calculation and benzene for environmental specification compliance associated with emissions – T 50, FBP, IBP, compound specific control variables can be used in the control system software November 9, 2020 Slide 10

PGC 5009 Fast Process GC Key Product Attributes Patented Resistively Heated Column • By

PGC 5009 Fast Process GC Key Product Attributes Patented Resistively Heated Column • By using the stainless steel column’s own material resistivity property and an electric potential applied directly to the column, the column effectively becomes a heater enabling a fast heat up time. Rapid Column Cooling System • After column heat up, a Vortex cooler device flows 15 SCFM of cold air over the column rapidly cooling it back to the starting temperature. Coupled with the heated column, analysis cycle times of 4 -5 minutes for simulated distillation are achieved. Highly Precise Temperature and Pressure Control Digital column temperature and carrier pressure control enable 0. 5 o. C IBP and 1. 0 o. C FBP repeatability/reproducibility thereby providing superior process control and no need for peak alignment to compensate for design weaknesses and measurement variability. PGC 5009 Fast Process GC Financial Case Study 2 – Gasoline • • Refinery Gasoline Blend Volume of 4, 200, 000 Gallons per Day • The PGC 5009 is used to control the boiling range of these gasoline blending components such that the more expensive components, Alkylate and Reformate, are reduced and the less expensive components, FCC Naphtha (HFCCN) and Straight Run Naphtha (HSRN) are increased thereby reducing the overall manufacturing cost of the gasoline blend • By reducing the Alkylate and Reformate in the blend by 0. 5% and 0. 3%, respectively, and increasing the FCC Naphtha and Straight Run Naphtha by 0. 25% and 0. 10%, respectively, the overall manufacturing cost of the gasoline blend is reduced from $1. 3475 per gallon to $1. 3467 per gallon • The profit captured in this strategy amounts to $3, 405 per day meaning the PGC 5009 pays for itself in 28 days; annualized profit $1, 242, 910. Current blend comprised of 40% FCC Naphtha (HFCCN), 25% Straight Run Naphtha (HSRN), 15% Alkylate, 18% Reformate and 2% Butane November 9, 2020 Slide 13
