What is ME 3? • City program to help small and medium-sized manufacturers cut costs and reduce negative environmental impacts • Comprehensive, high value review of your entire manufacturing process and related practices • No up front costs, but we ask for commitment to ME 3 and continuous improvement • Act now, first come first serve: Mayor invited 370 firms, only have space for 10 -20
ME 3 Mission • To improve the competitiveness of small and medium sized manufacturers in Milwaukee by promoting the implementation of cost-effective sustainable manufacturing* practices and technologies that collectively reduce community-wide negative environmental impacts. • *Sustainable manufacturing is defined as the creation of manufactured products that use processes that minimize negative environmental impacts, conserve energy and natural resources, are safe for employees, communities, and consumers and are economically sound (U. S. Department of Commerce definition).
Why Develop a Program Like ME 3? • The Mayor is committed to manufacturing which is the backbone of our economy • Sustainable manufacturing techniques can significantly reduce the costs of doing business while addressing environmental issues • Give our small and medium-sized businesses direct access to resources
Is ME 3 a City Program? • The City of Milwaukee is partnering with city, state and regional agencies (ME 3 Partners) to pool resources in order to help you cut costs while improving Milwaukee’s environment • The ME 3 Partners will give YOU direct access to a suite of programs to improve your business • You won’t need to search around for resources that address critical business needs; ME 3 will focus on your manufacturing processes but provide you access to continuing education or financial counseling services • Because of the resources committed by the ME 3 Partners, ME 3 is a no-cost program with grants set aside for implementation

What Will ME 3 Do For My Business? • Working with a team of recognized industry experts, ME 3 will conduct a comprehensive review of your manufacturing processes and practices • Our team run other programs across the state that have helped cut operating costs and improved manufacturing processes • The ME 3 Team will work with you to deliver results with short investment paybacks • ME 3 will build off local expertise and ME 3 Partners’ success with manufacturers throughout the state, from Focus on Energy to WMEP • E 3 programs across country have resulted in jobs created and retained
