This marks my 21 st year in the classroom and my fourth year at MCHS. I grew up in Mt. Sterling; but I lived in Alabama for several years. I have a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University and BA degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and English from Converse College. I have two children, JC and Davis. JC is 15 and a sophomore at MCHS while Davis is 7 and a first grader at Mapleton. We have two cats and a Golden Retriever. I love all sports. My favorite is UK basketball. We also love Auburn football. My favorite place is the beach!

Disciplinary referral Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages any property (student, teacher or school), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

Tickets You will receive 4 tickets at the beginning of the year. These tickets

Tickets You will receive 4 tickets at the beginning of the year. These tickets can be used for bathroom passes or supplies (pencils/pens). You can get your ticket back if your return the borrowed pencil. You will have to keep up with the tickets. You can put these in your binder. At mid-term and 9 weeks you can turn your tickets in for bonus points. You will have the opportunity to earn additional tickets based on participation, etc.

Class policies Class Begins when the bell rings. You will have either bell work or a warm up activity posted or instructed every day. Class Ends when I dismiss you. I will not make you late, so please wait to be dismissed. What to bring to class everyday- pencil/pen, paper, notebook, reading book, homework, and a great attitude and respect.

When Tardy- Follow school procedures, have material with you, enter the room and be seated as quickly and quietly as possible. Place your excuse in a designated area, I will sign and hand back. Requesting permission to leave the room- Raise your hand in order to ask permission, sign the hall pass log sheet (located near the door), and take a hall pass with you. When you return replace hall pass.

Obtaining Make Up Work- When you have missed a class, fill out the make up work slip (located in the black box on the student shelf). Hand the slip to me. I will get your work together and staple the slip to it, so I know that it is make up work and not late work. You may also want to check the agenda book (located above the student shelf). This is where I list the day’s activities (lesson). You will also need to check my teacher web page. I post all power points on my web page for your convince.
