Looking for Coaches • We are currently looking for coaches to enhance our coaching staff! • No experience is necessary • Please email Marissa if interested • Clearances are required, BUT clearances are currently FREE for volunteers, so get them today!

High School and Middle School Program Overview • Who can play: – HS Program is for Mc. Dowell students only in 9 -12 grades / Collegiate students who LIVE in Millcreek – MS Program is for students grades 4 -8 – any city. • Seasons: – Fall Ball (Now through October) OPTIONAL, FREE – Winter Ball (January – February) OPTIONAL, FREE • Some extras do have a nominal cost to participate – Official Season – Spring, Cost to Play March 5, 2018 – June 2018

Fall Ball • Fall Ball is optional and there is no cost to the practices – GREAT opportunity for anyone who just wants to give it a shot. Starts this week and runs through October. • *REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO PLAY* • Register via the website, mcdowelllacrosse. org Register Now (Orange) Offseason HS or Offseason MS IF you cannot do Fall, but want to get e-mails for Winter or other opportunities, register!

Fall Practice Schedule • Fall Ball Goal: To learn skills or maintain them and condition. – HIGH SCHOOL: • Tuesdays, 6: 30 pm – 7: 30 pm Lift | 7: 30 p – 9 p @ GAF • Thursdays @ JS Wilson, 5 p – 7 p • Saturday Morning Lifts, 8: 30 a – 9: 30 a. – MIDDLE SCHOOL @ Walnut Creek • Wednesdays, 5: 30 – 7 p. m. , Sundays, 3: 30 – 5 p. m.

Do we compete at all in the Fall? That is a terrific question, with a terrific answer! Why, YES!

Tournaments • Robert Morris University Colonial Classic: 7 V 7 Tournament in Pittsburgh – MS on October 21 – HS on October 22 • Cost last year was $50 / player (donation to “Hope for a Cure”) • Starts at 8 a. m. , all day. – You must REGISTER on your own – For every 10 -12 registered, we will take one team. • MS: Teams will be balanced based off experience and age. • HS: Teams will be determined based on Fall attendance, skill, experience and attitude.

Where Can I Get Equipment? • Erie Sport Store and Dick’s have some sticks, goggles, mouthguards, balls, & gloves in stock • Club also has loaner equipment if you aren’t sure if you want to play! • Websites have a greater variety – Longstreth. com – Lacrossemonkey. com – Qclax. com Longstreth specializes in ladies sports equipment!

Spirit Wear Form • Spirit wear will be due 9/22 • You have 3 options: 1. Turn it in to coach at practice 2. Turn it in to Lori Bischof@ Walnut Creek or 3. Mail it to the address on the form. • No late forms because we will not be able to get spirit wear back from the printer in time for the playday. • Checks payable to Mc. Dowell Girls Lacrosse.

Jackets Order forms are available for “Spirit wear” online at our website… Checks and forms are due September 22 nd!

Where to find the form?

Fall Tournament Jerseys • Ladies navy performance short sleeve. • Mc. Dowell across the shoulders and the number below. • YOU MUST SIGN UP TONIGHT!!! • Player name, size, and last year’s number. (New players will have a number assigned to them. )

Cost of the Program • We are not a funded sport so the players and their families bear the cost of playing • Most of the expenses are relatively fixed regardless of the number of players – referee fees, transportation costs, coaching fees, uniforms and warm-ups, etc. Therefore the more players we have, the lower the cost per player. Projected 2017 cost: – High School: $400 – Middle school: $175 • However, when compared to some other sports, the cost is reasonable • Hockey is ~$2500 per player

What Does the Cost Cover? • Last year, dues covered all home game expenses, including ref fees, programs and uniforms. Dues also covered new/needed equipment, coaching clinics and US Lacrosse Registrations. • This year dues will help cover: – – Ref fees, Off-season winter workouts, etc Pinneys for HS girls to keep Contribution to the Uniform Fund for future uniform needs Playoff Fund for travel to away playoff games Opportunities exist to help offset these costs!

The Cost to Play • Dues must be paid by March 5 th, 2018, which is the first day of season – Any player with an outstanding balance will not be able to practice/play until the financial obligation is resolved. • What does this mean for our players? …. . That NOW (not February!) is the time to start fundraising and contacting potential sponsors!

Fall Fundraising Opportunities • Blanket Scarves • Each scarf is to be sold for $15. Girls will earn $6 per scarf that she sells. Total sold will be applied to her spring dues. • The Sale starts today and runs through 9/29. all money and orders are due to me then.

Fundraising Opportunities We have another fundraising opportunity that will help the club meet it’s budgeting goals v. Sunflower Club Fundraiser v. This is being scheduled – More Information to come

How Fundraising Works • If a player participates in the fundraisers, their dues are further reduced based on that player’s participation. • Also, players are credited for 75% of all sponsor money collected. • It is entirely possible to bring the balance due to ZERO without making any dues payments – in fact, we have a player who has accomplished this.

Sponsors • Both individuals and corporate sponsors are more than welcome. – If a sponsor wishes to sponsor an individual player, then 75% of the amount donated will be used to reduce the player’s dues • Last year, players collected over $7500 from sponsors – If a sponsor prefers, their donation can be made to the team as a whole. • Last year the team received $1250 from sponsors • The sponsorship form and the fundraiser forms are on the website

How YOU can get involved… • We can accomplish more with YOUR help! – We are always looking for help with fundraising opportunities and with preparations to support our girls – We understand that time is always at a premium and that making a commitment is difficult – Consider signing up for a position as a group and taking turns – If positions are not filled, this places a greater strain on the coaches

How YOU can get involved… • Currently we need help with the following positions: – Assistant Coaches… – Videographer (Stay out of the elements in the press box!) – Photographer (Only person other than the coaches that should be on the sidelines!) – Logistics (Make sure that when the team travels they have water and healthy snacks) – Game day coordinators (Get the field set up for the teams and refs) – Concessions
