MAY I ASK YOU ? A QUESTION?
Has anyone ever taken a Bible and shown you: How you can “know for sure” that you’re going to Heaven?
The Bible contains both bad news and good news. The bad news is about you; and the good news is about God …
Let’s look at the bad news, first … The ‘bad news’ is that we are all sinners
Romans 3: 23 … For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Sinned means we have missed the mark
When we lie, hate, lust, gossip, we fall short of God’s standard …
Suppose you and I were to compete to throw a rock to the North Pole … You might throw further than I do, but both of us would miss it
The point of the Bible is that neither of us (‘no one’) is perfect, which is God’s standard (requirement) … But the ‘bad news’ gets worse
Bad News # 2 The penalty of sin is death… Romans 6: 23, The wages of sin is death
Suppose you worked for me and I paid you $50. 00 … That would be what you earned, what was owed to you
The Bible says that by sinning we have earned death … That means we deserve to die and be separated from God forever.
Since there was no way us to come to God, the Bible says: He came to us. . .
$ Good News # 1 Christ died for you… Romans 5: 8, God demonstrates His love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us
Suppose you are lying in a hospital bed with cancer… I come to you and say: ‘Let’s take the cancer cells from your body and put them in my body’
If that were possible … What would happen to me? What would happen to you?
The Bible says Christ took the penalty that we deserve, placed it on Himself, and died in our place. He arose proving He is God, and His death paid for our sin.
Ephesians 2: 8 -9 For by grace (undeserved favor) you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God
But, the good news gets even better … Good News # 2 … You can be forgiven and saved by faith in Christ
Faith means trust Q. What must you trust Christ for? A. You must depend on Him alone to forgive your sin and give you eternal life
Just as you trust a chair to hold you up, through no effort of your own, so you must trust Jesus Christ to get you to heaven through no effort of your own
But, you may say … I’m religious I’m a good person I really try I go to church I help the poor These are good, but won’t get you to heaven!
Is there anything keeping you from trusting Jesus Christ right now? Think; there is nothing more important than trusting Christ
Would you like to tell God that you are trusting Christ as your Savior? If you would, why not pray right now and tell Him you are trusting Christ, alone
Remember … it is not a prayer that saves you; it is Christ, trusting Him, alone. Prayer is how you are telling God what your intentions are!
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I know my sin deserves to be punished. I believe that Christ died for me and rose from the grave! I trust Jesus Christ, alone, as my Savior from your wrath and from my sin. Thank you for the forgiveness of my sin, and power to live a godly life. Amen
