Matthew 13: 24 -27 Tares among Wheat Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away. But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also. The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares? ’…
Matthew 13: 28 -30 Tares among Wheat …And he said to them, ‘An enemy has done this!’ The slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up? ’ But he said, ‘No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them. Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn. ”’”
Matthew 13: 36 -39 The Tares Explained His disciples came to Him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field. ” And He said, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man, and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one; and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are angels…
Matthew 13: 36 -43 The Tares Explained …So just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

Applications to our Lives Today Jesus has all Authority in His field, the World (Matt. 28: 18). Jesus sowed the good seed & by obeying Him individuals become children of the kingdom (John 3: 5; Col. 1: 13 -14). The devil is God’s enemy & sows tares [children of evil who appear to be good like the wheat] (Jn. 8: 44; Eph. 2: 3; 5: 6) As Christians, we live in a sinful world and must not allow ourselves to be deceived by the devil and become tares again (2 Cor. 11: 2 -3, 13 -15).
The Devil is Sowing Tares to Deceive Brethren The devil wants to you to think that the field is the church and will use false teachers to get you to believe that, but that’s not what Jesus said. (Field is the world- Mt. 13: 38) If the field is the church, then you wouldn’t be able to discipline or mark brethren because the Scripture says they are to grow together until the harvest. Any interpretation that contradicts another passage [doesn’t harmonize with the rest of the Bible] is wrong and is the devil sowing tares to get you to believe a lie and be condemned (1 Cor. 14: 33; 2 Thess. 2: 9 -12).
Sow the Seed of Truth so that the Tares might Repent & become Wheat Again The Bible teaches that we must withdraw from or discipline unfaithful brethren so that they might repent of their sins and be saved before the harvest day comes [Judgment Day] (1 Cor. 5: 1 -13; 2 Cor. 2: 6 -11). We must mark and avoid those who cause division so that the rest of the brethren won’t be deceived into becoming tares for the devil also (Rom. 16: 17 -18). Expose darkness with the light of truth (Eph. 5: 6 -11)
Applications to our Lives Today God is longsuffering desiring that we grow to become good fruit until the harvest [not allowing us to be pulled up with the tares] (Luke 8: 15; 2 Peter 1: 5 -11; James 5: 7 -9). Tares can become wheat and be saved before the harvest [we live in an age of grace] (Tit. 2: 11; 2 Pet. 3: 9, 15). God will punish evildoers in hell [including the hypocrites, stumbling blocks, and the lawless in the kingdom] and save the righteous in heaven. (2 Pet. 3: 10; Matt. 13: 49 -50; 7: 21 -23; 25: 21, 46)
Conclusion You are either ‘wheat’ or a ‘tare’. You are either a child of the kingdom or child of the devil. You will produce good fruit for God or bad fruit for Satan. You will either enjoy eternal life in heaven or suffer eternal punishment in hell. Don’t be deceived- you’ll reap what you sow (Gal. 6: 7 -10) If you aren’t ready for the harvest day (Judgment Day) obey the gospel or be restored (Acts 2: 38; 8: 20 -22)!
