Maths: Addition and Subtraction Hello Year 4. We hope you enjoyed last week’s maths work. Here’s another instalment of maths work to keep you entertained… We are going to mix things up a bit and include addition and subtraction. Please follow this maths presentation to recap both calculations, then complete the worksheets which you can find on your learning page underneath the daily tabs. You don’t need to complete them all in one go but we thought we’d give you a few to keep you on your toes including some tricky challenges. Let’s look at one with exchanging Again, we can use column addition to work out the answer. 493 + 238 First, place the digits into the correct column. twinkl. com

493 + 238 1 1 Next, look at the column with the lowest value. This is the ones column. Add together the numbers. 3 ones + 8 ones = 11 ones Exchange the 11 ones into 1 ten and 1 one. Place the 1 one in the answer section and show the exchanged ten by writing 1 under the tens column. twinkl. com
