Maths Lesson 1 LO: I can use formal methods to multiply Watch this video tutorial on how to use the short (compact) formal method for multiplication: https: //youtu. be/n. SEl. Iw 9 F 6 KI? t=7 The boy in the video calls this ‘carrying’ but it is actually exchanging into the next column on the left for the next place value. You don’t have to circle the numbers you ‘carry’ if you don’t want or need to. When you’ve completed the multiplication for each bottom digit (of 25), remember to add up the 2 answers in these 2 lines to get your final product ( Xn answer)! T. Goodoree, youtube & Twinkl, March. Maths Lesson 1 LO: I can use formal methods to multiply Remember, if you’re not quite ready for the compact/short method, you can always use the expanded method! If there was a tens digit next to the 6 to make TU number, there would be another two lines of calculation, making the working out longer! T. Goodoree, youtube & Twinkl, March. April 2020
