Maths and Computing Faculty - Litter Pick Task 1 – Litter Pick around the School Campus (1 period) • In groups you will be given an area of the school to collect litter. • Your teacher will tell you what type of litter to collect. • Your group will be given equipment to help pick litter. • Record your data on the tally sheet provided.

Maths and Computing Faculty - Litter Pick Falkirk Council Risk Assessment • Use Litter Pickers provided – do not touch anything with your hands. • Only light items to be collected and black bags half filled. Do not collect heavy or sharp items of litter. Hoops to be used to carry black bags and hold them away from your body. • Dangerous items such as broken glass, dog mess, hypodermic needles to be reported to leaders who will arrange uplift by trained Falkirk Council employees. • Gloves are provided for cleanliness purposes – they are not protective gloves. All participants should wash their hands after litter picking and before eating or drinking.

Bar graph, line graph, pie chart, etc. • Consider the following questions: 1) What is the most popular item dropped in the school grounds? 2) How do you think litter effects your local environment? 3) What can be done to improve the litter problem? • Present all your findings on a colourful poster!!!
