What is the Match Play? § Match Play is the second stage of a championship; It consists of two further stages - Elimination Round & Finals Round § In both the rounds, archers compete against one another, head to head, according to a seeding chart and the winner of a match proceeds to the next round § For Recurve, the Olympic Round is shot at the 70 m distance on 122 cm faces, following the “set system” – max. 5 sets of 3 arrows § For Compound, the Compound Round is shot at 50 m on 80 cm 6 ring targets, using “cumulative scoring” with 5 ends of 3 arrows World Archery Judge’s Training Aid – 2017 v 1. 1 17 -07 -2017 2

Match Play – Finals Round & Medals Matches § Timing signals will be given to athletes to proceed to the shooting line ( 2 beeps), 10 seconds later; start shooting (one beep) § The first twenty (20) second period for the first athlete commences, as soon as the first athlete has shot his/her arrow and the score has been posted, the countdown clock for the second archer is started to indicate his/her 20 second period. § The athletes continue to alternate their shots following the countdown clock’s visual signal until each athlete has shot his/her three arrows.
