Breast Form Shapes Each company will call the different shapes differently. Custom A woman may choose a custom for a variety of reasons, for example, their chest wall or scar tissue may require a custom fit to avoid skin irritation and conform more appropriately. An impression of the patient is taken and a breast form is created to specifically fit the unique contours of the patient and match the contralateral side. Care and Maintenance • Each breast form will have its own care instructions; you should include this with your patient education materials upon delivery. • Generally, wash in lukewarm water with mild soap, rinse thoroughly, and air dry in its container to maintain shape. • Adhesive back forms may require special cleansers. • Do not twist, ring out, or put in the dryer. Warranties • Most warranties are for two years. • Most companies have a warranty card you must fill out at the time of delivery. • Swim Forms generally have a shorter warranty due to pool chemical exposure. • Be sure to contact and comply with each manufacturer’s warranty policy and procedures!
