Reading We will begin individual assessments before reading groups are started. We call this the BAS assessment. This will be completed for remote learners as well as oncampus learners. After testing is completed, reading groups will begin. We will provide more information at that time. It is our expectation that students read approximately 20 minutes nightly. You may use actual books or websites such as www. getepic. com or https: //www. teachyourmonstertoread. com/.
Spelling Each week will include a set of high-frequency words and a set of words with the same phonetic sound. We will use www. spellingcity. com for practicing spelling skills online. Students will need to complete the spelling test from spellingcity weekly. Spelling will begin after the phase-in process.
Writing Students are expected to learn how to write letters with correct formation and spacing. We will demonstrate how to hold a pencil and how each letter is made. Students will learn to write a variety of genres such as poetry, expository text, fiction, and biographies. Online Resources (a log in/password will be assigned to your child): Write Reader: https: //app. writereader. com/login
Math Due to COVID restrictions, all students will receive a packet of “math tools” to use for hands-on learning. We want all students to have their tools at home in the event we must all go remote. Remote learners will receive their textbooks for home use. Please use ONLY the pages that we assign. Other websites will be used such as…. Dreambox: this is a pending district initiative Thinkcentral: https: //www. pearlandisd. org/Page/301 Splash. Learn: https: //www. splashlearn. com/ Students will be supplied with log-in information.

Technology Students will be using their personal device in the classroom. Please be sure the device is fully charged before students arrive for school. Please have the Seesaw Class app and downloaded on your child’s device.
Working Online
Behavior Management We will follow the district policy using the PBIS program.
School Supplies Tips We will put scissors, crayons, 2 pencils, glue stick, and a dry erase marker in student supply boxes at school. For at home learners please use only supplies needed for assignments. Store the rest out of their reach so they are not used on non-school activities. Supplies will be sent to school if you decide to send your child to campus.
Again, let me welcome you to our community of learners. It is my pleasure to be your child’s teacher and I am looking forward to a productive and rewarding school year!!
