Guided Practice Directions: Decide which need on Maslow’s hierarchy is being fulfilled first, and what need is being sacrificed.

Guided Practice #1 Situation: A woman who is overweight is making changes in her diet. Because of this, she is shorttempered and irritable with her family. Need being fulfilled: Biological/ Physiological Need being sacrificed: Love and belonging (snapping at family)

Guided Practice #2 Situation: A student is feeling very sleepy in their desk. Although she should be taking notes for an upcoming exam, she puts her head down instead. Need being fulfilled: Biological/ Physiological Need being sacrificed: Esteem (achievement)
