Masks Lesson 1 Research Masks, focus on one culture. Find a wide variety of images of masks from your chosen culture. Title e. g. African Masks either print/stick or draw the masks arrange them under the title. Lesson 2 Section off an A 4 page into six, in each section draw areas of interest and detail from a range of your mask images.

Masks Lesson 5 Design a mask – Look very closely at the work you have done so far. (your research and drawing) On a piece of paper draw your own mask design, outline only. Be influenced by your previous work, your mask design should look like a mask from your chosen culture, but be create and unique. Lesson 6 Consider colour and decoration, again look at your research. Add colour in any media. (material – paint, pencil, felts etc. ) Please photograph your work and send to your teacher. Masks Lesson 7 Make a mask Look very closely at your design. (completed last lesson) On a piece of card draw the outline of your mask design. Use the reverse of a cereal box or cardboard box. Lesson 8 Collect materials to decorate your mask. These can be from your recycling bin – bottle tops, coloured card/paper, plastic, foil etc. You may also have other items around the house – fabric, wool, threads etc. You may find items on a walk – feathers, leaves, seed heads etc. Please photograph your work and send to your teacher.
