Defining the Marxist Lens �Based on the writings of Karl Marx. �Authors use the lens to represent class. Such as culture, race, class, and power. Weather it’s good, bad, or they help to succeed.
Real Life Marxism �In real life another word for Marxism is Stereotyping. Such as saying a rich person is snobby and buys expensive things. Or saying that a poor person is gross. �Racial Profiling. The most common example of this is DWB. (driving while black). This is not illegal. But it gives the police the right to stop you without a reason and search your car.
Frankenstein �In the book, Victor Frankenstien, he treats the poor as if they are beneath him. He acts like if he has money he is automatically higher on the scale and they are not equal.
Henry’s Dad �Henry’s father told him not to go off to college because it was some how beneath his standards.
Elizebeth �She grew up poor and didn’t have money. �But Victor looked at her as in exception because she was “pretty”. �Even though she is “ok” money wise because of Victor she is still a women and considered lower still.
Marxism and Frankenstein Overall �Mary Shelly wrote to present Marxism in a pretty negative way. �There are very many situations were it is used.
