Attendance monitoring • College expectation is 100% (95%) • Absences must be verified, ideally by parent, using the absence line • Tutors will monitor attendance on a weekly basis • Registers are taken in all classes • Text messaging each day to inform you of any absences

Student Discipline Policy • Attendance = Achievement • Improves quality of every student’s experience • Mirrors workplace expectations (including wearing lanyards)
Stages • There are two stages to the formal College Disciplinary Procedure: • Initial stage = Misconduct • Final Stage = Serious Misconduct • Gross Misconduct – a single serious breach of student expectations leading to suspension or expulsion.
E-ILP • Individualised learning • Tracks the student journey • Highlights their aims and aspirations, goals and targets • Records their performance against targets • Enables student/parent/tutor to have an overview

DEVELOPING THE MINDSET… Help them to develop a positive mindset Vocational Excellence & A-Level mindset Do they consolidate every lesson? Do they prepare for every lesson? Do they know what they find difficult?
WHAT DOES BTEC INVOLVE? • • Extended Diploma 18 units equivalent to 3 A levels Diploma 12 units equivalent to 2 A levels Certificate 6 units equivalent to 1 A level Level 2 learners have two exams which they must pass Work experience Homework & private study approx. 10 -14 hrs per week Vocational Excellence “ be inspired to achieve”
HOW WILL STUDENTS BE ASSESSED • Mainly coursework at level 3 except Science ( 2 exams 1 controlled assessment) • Level 2 learners have two exams which they must pass • Assessment has two phases learning phase (formative), assessment phase (summative) • One resubmission is allowed per assignment with limited feedback if the teacher feels the student can improve. • Each unit will be split into 4 assignments • Students will be assessed using reports, practical observations/assessments, presentations and word documents
PLAGIARISM • Plagiarism is much more than simple copying from another student, or from books, or from the internet. Ultimately, plagiarism is attempting to pass off other people’s work and ideas as your own. • Consequences: • During the learning phase - internal discipline • Assessment phase – a retake. This limits the grade to a pass
PROGRESSION ROUTES • • HND & HNC at The Cheadle College A degree in a related subject (60%-75%) An apprenticeship (15%=20% Directly into a job (15%-20%)
What is the Parent Portal? • Pro. Portal is the electronic Individual Learning Plan (ILP) system used to view, record and track a wide range of information • Progress on courses and assessment marks • Targets for development. • Personal details • Attendance, • Exam timetable • Parental Pro. Portal is a place where you as a parent or carer can view much of this information. • Logon details have been emailed to parents
Use the link provided in the email to log in. You can give us you email address tonight if you have not received an email Enter in the username and password provided Click on the students name once logged on Works on any internet enabled device
The webpage will resize to the screen size you are using The first page you will see is the Dashboard Summary information such as Attendance and upcoming SMART targets are shown
The menus at the top will navigate you to information such as: Learner Details including courses enrolled on and teachers Qualifications on entry to college Academic Information view grades for assignments or units on courses.
The Learner ILP This is completed by students in tutorial as well as staff when SMART targets are completed The information recorded includes: • • Progression planning – students goals Student review - students identify areas of strength and areas for improvement • Attendance and Punctuality – This shows a summary of attendance and punctuality by group
Viewing Grades To view grades select academic information from the information menu and select a subject to view the grades for
On the assessments table you will see entered grades Academic courses will show grade A-U and Vocational Courses will show P (pass), M (merit) or D (distinction): Green = Above target, Amber = In line with target, Red = Below target
Conclusion As a college we want every single student to succeed and we will do ‘Whatever it takes’ to get them where they want to be.
