Where We’re Going: Fundamental MCDOT Roles • Stewardship of County Roads – Maintain the Existing System – Serve Unincorporated Maricopa County • This is the County’s fundamental statutory role, based on ARS Title 28, Chapter 19

Where We’re Going: Other Basic MCDOT Roles • Serve Regional Travel / Provide a Seamless System – RTP Projects – Other Regional Arterial Linkages • These are also inherent County roles, following from ARS Sections 28 -6308 (RTP), 28 -6771 (bridges) and 28 -7403 (state routes, connections)

The above roles would depend on the cooperative interests of other MAG Member Agencies, funding availability, & approval of the Board of Supervisors.

For example: • The project serves a regional need; • The project links areas in the county; – – Expense allowable under HURF statutes; Expenditure compatible with County budget; County share proportional to County benefit; Participation is documented in an IGA. * Supported by County legal opinion.
