Requirements Grades 6 -8 Grades 9 -12 • Read and sign the Level II Internet Safety Pledge • Write and sign a personalized contract with your parent or guardian • Watch the video "Friend or Fake? “ and two others (total of ~11 mins) • As an individual or with your patrol, use the EDGE method to teach Internet safety rules, behavior, and "netiquette" to your troop or another patrol • Discuss with your unit leader the acceptable standards and practices for using allowed electronic devices, such as phones and games, at your meetings and other Scouting events • Read and sign the Level II Internet Safety Pledge • Write and sign a personalized contract with your parent or guardian • Discuss with your parents the benefits and potential dangers teenagers might experience when using social media. Give examples of each • Watch three Real-Life Story” videos to learn the impact on teens. (total of ~10 mins) • As an individual or with your patrol, use the EDGE method to teach Internet safety rules, behavior, and "netiquette" to your troop or another patrol • Discuss with your unit leader the acceptable standards and practices for using allowed electronic devices such as phones and games at your meetings and other Scouting events 5
Level II Internet Safety Pledge Applicable to all youth members of Scouts BSA I will think before I post I agree not to post information that could put me at risk, embarrass me, or damage my future I will respect other people online I will not harass someone, send or forward damaging information, or post anything threatening I will respect digital media ownership I will not pirate movies, games or music. I will only use legal ways to use Internet resources I won’t meet face-toface with anyone I meet in the digital world unless I have my parent’s permission I know people online can pretend to be anyone. I will check with my parents before meeting someone I will protect myself online 6 I will tell a trusted adult if someone makes me feel uncomfortable online
