March, 2004 doc. : IEEE 802. 15 -04/0097 r 1 -mmwi Overview • 8 x 8 elements and 2 x 2 elements circular waveguide array antennas have been developed for millimeter-wave ad hoc wireless access system. • To realize single side band self-heterodyne scheme with small size, these antennas have built-in 5 stage waveguide filters. The antenna gain of more than 25 d. Bi is measured for 8 x 8 element antenna, and the loss of 5 stage filter is less than 1. 0 d. B. Submission 3 Reed Fisher, Seiji Nishi Oki

March, 2004 doc. : IEEE 802. 15 -04/0097 r 1 -mmwi Conclusion • We developed the 2 x 2 element circular polarized (RHCP) antenna with built-in filter for 70 GHz band ad hoc wireless link, and 8 x 8 element linear polarized antenna with built-in filter for 60 GHz band wireless link and good characteristics are obtained. • The antenna gain of 8 x 8 element antenna is as large as 25. 5 d. Bi without filter. The loss of the filter for 70 GHz band wireless link in pass band is lower than 1. 0 d. B. The rejection for USB is larger than 30 d. B. • These results confirmed that the circular waveguide array antenna is suitable for broadband millimeter-wave wireless system. • Also we realized very small size antenna with built-in filter. The size of the 2 x 2 element antenna with built-in filter is 40 mmx 24 mmx 11 mm, and that of the 8 x 8 element antenna is as small as 45. 6 mmx 11 mm Submission 16 Reed Fisher, Seiji Nishi Oki
