OBJECTIVE Our objective here is to collect PT (saturation data) by operating the boiler and compare that data with calculated one 5/12/2009 6

CALACULATION PROCEDURES • Obtain the TP saturation data from boiler • Plot this TP data(P on abscissa and T on ordinate) • Measure the slope of the plot at each pressure reading. this gives d. T/d. P • Obtain the values of calculated slope by Clausius Clapeyron equation Feeding it the values of Tsat Vfg and hfg from Steam table. • Calculate the difference of these slopes which gives you the accuracy of of the Clausius Clapeyron equation and strenghtens your measured readings 5/12/2009 7

HOW TO MAKE IT SIMPLE… • As it is a very hectic job to calculate slope of the graph at 50 points, it can be made easy by using a machine for that i. e. your PC will calculate it for u. • All you need to do is to tell your machine what it has to do for u, i. e. communicate with your machine. It need a machine language and you can use one that suits you. Lets use MATLAB for that 5/12/2009 9
