Contents • MIMO feedback according to the period – Short period feedback – Long period feedback – Event driven feedback • MIMO feedback according to feedback channel – Primary fast feedback channel – Secondary fast feedback channel – MAC message • Overall MIMO feedback • Feedback allocation IE – Basic Feedback allocation IE – Additional Feedback allocation IE • Proposed AWD text 2

MIMO feedback according to the period • Types of MIMO feedback – Short period: CINR, PMI • Frequent feedback information – Long period • Type-1 (carried in FBCH): Rank information, Subband selection, Stream index – Slowly-changed feedback information. It can override short-term feedback in a FBCH. • Type-2 (carried in MAC feedback message): Correlation matrix, PMI report for neighboring cell – Occasional feedback information. – Event-driven: preferred MIMO feedback mode, Bandwidth Request, etc • When MS wants to transmits event-driven feedback, the MS transmits it instead of long-term period feedback. 3

MIMO feedback according to feedback channel • Types of UL fast-feedback channel – Primary fast-feedback channel • It is robust channel but carries only up to 6 bits. • Basic mapping of the carried contents for Basic feedback allocation IE – Wideband CINR (5 bits, TBD) – Rank information if SU, or Stream index if OL-MU (3 bits) – Preferred MFM(MIMO feedback mode) with # of stream for MU (TBD bits) » It depends on Table 15 in MIMO DG. But we recommend 9 kinds of it as below: » OL-SU (Wideband), OL-SU (Subband), CL-SU, OL-MU(stream 2), OL-MU(stream 3), OLMU(stream 4), CL-MU(stream 2), CL-MU(stream 3), CL-MU(stream 4) – Others: BW-REQ according service-type, etc. • Other mapping of the carried contents is indicated in Additional feedback allocation IE. – Secondary fast-feedback channel • It supports feedback at higher code rate and carries 7 -24 bits. • Carried contents are indicated in Additional feedback allocation IE. – Feedback contents are depending on MIMO feedback mode. • MAC feedback message – The structure or mapping of the carried contents are FFS. 4

Overall MIMO feedback for FBCH • Basic feedback contents to PFBCH – All MIMO modes need this feedback information. Feedback information Number of bits Notes Long period feedback Rank information (for SU) /Stream index (for OL-MU) 3 Rank from 1 to 8 Stream from 1 to 4 Short period feedback WB CINR 5 (TBD) Physical or Effective CINR Event-driven feedback Preferred MIMO feedback mode, BW REQ, etc TBD • Additional feedback contents according to MIMO mode – It is transmitted only if additional information is needed. • MIMO mode 0 and 1 (Wideband) don’t need it. – It is carried in PFBCH or SFBCH according to the size of feedback contents. Feedback information Long period feedback Short period feedback Number of bits Notes Band selection information (BSI) TBD For subband NB CINR or delta CINR 5 or 2 (TBD) x the number of selected subbands For subband WB PMI (TBD) TBD NB PMI TBD 5 For MIMO mode 2 or 4 (subband)

Feedback allocation IE for FBCH • Basic feedback allocation IE – To transmit ‘Basic feedback contents to PFBCH’ Syntax Size (bits) Notes Basic_FB_Alloc_IE { Channel index 6 The index of fast feedback channel UL Subframe offset (n) 5 The MS starts reporting after nth UL subframe from when the MS received this IE. (‘n=0’ may be used for IE de-allocation. ) MFM (MIMO feedback mode) FFS To decide the feedback contents and related MS processing DLRU (TBD) FFS FFR partition, [DRU or miniband CRU, CRU], [Which RU group] MIMO feedback type 1 0 b 0: codebook 0 b 1: sounding CM (Codebook feedback mode) 2 0 b 00: standard 0 b 01: adaptive 0 b 10: differential Codebook coordination enable 1 0 b 0: Disable 0 b 1: Enable Max. stream number for MU 2 0 b 00 – 0 b 11 (stream index from 1 to 4) CINR type 1 0 b 0: physical CINR 0 b 1: effective CINR Long period (p) 3 Long-term feedback is transmitted on PFBCH every 2 p frames. Short period (q) 2 Short-term feedback is transmitted on PFBCH every 2 q frames. } 6

Feedback allocation IE for FBCH (Cont’d) • Additional feedback allocation IE – – To transmit ‘Additional feedback contents’ It can’t be transmitted alone. It follows most signaling of Basic_FB_Alloc_IE. MIMO mode 0 and 1 (Wideband) don’t need this IE. This IE may have different offset and period with Basic_FB_Alloc_IE due to power consumption of cell-edge user. Syntax Size (bits) Notes Additional_FB_Alloc_IE { Channel index 6 The index of fast feedback channel UL Subframe offset (n) 5 The MS starts reporting after nth UL subframe from when the MS received this IE. (‘n=0’ may be used for IE de-allocation. ) Long period (p) 3 Long-term feedback is transmitted every 2 p frames. Short period (q) 2 Short-term feedback is transmitted every 2 q frames. } 7
