II. Theory CIP 10 for Risk assessment and dust monitoring • Sampling technology Ø Fraction selector Ø Collection media cap Fraction selector Rotative foam (Collection Media) Motor and battery CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

A. Sampling heads and conventional fractions Conventional fractions in Hygiene at workplace (EN 481) : Irritating effect (bronchitis) Nasal cavity Mouth Inhalable Thoracic Pharynx Larynx Trachea Pleural membrane Bronchi Respirable (alveolar) Alveolus Bronchiolus Diaphram - Metalloid Flour dust Cancer effect Allergenic effect (asthma) Fibroid effect Asbestos CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

Respirable (alveolar) fraction • Dust collection by impaction on polyurethane foam, followed by filtration through selector foam • Compliant to standards CEN AFNOR 481 et ISO 7708 • PM ≈ 4 (Prob. 50%) Respirable fraction curve CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

Thoracic fraction • • • Dust collection by air deflection at 90° into 8 radial openings on the cylindrical tube. Large particulate matter is collected on the selector base PM ≈ 10 (prob. 50 %). Thoracic fraction curve CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

Inhalable fraction • Dust collection by aspiration through vertical pipe • PM ≈ 100 (Prob. 50%). Inhalable fraction curve CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

B. Rotative foam Air entering • Direction of rotation CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

C. Calibration and maintenance Flow rate of CIP 10 : Is calibrated at the factory using a flowrate measurement bench and can be re-calibrated yearly. • The flow rate is proportional to the rotation speed of the sampling cup. • Verification of the rotation speed of the cup with a laser Tachometer in the field assures that flow rate is within compliance. CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

C. Calibration and maintenance • Calibration with flow rate bench (manometric equilibrium) Obtain a manometric equilibrium for a nominal flow rate Q=10 L/min d. P=0 Pa • Re-calibration is available at factory or by purchasing own flow rate calibration bench. CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

C. Calibration and maintenance • Easy flow rate verification with a tachometer in the field Q= 10 L/min (r= 6 800 r/min) CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

D. Certification and compliance • ATEX compliant to explosive areas : II 2 G EEx ia IIC T 3 and I M 2 EEx ia I (gas included underground mines) • CIP 10 is specified in the following documents - EN 15230 Guidance for sampling of inhalable, thoracic and respirable size fractions - Foam collection listed in IS 0 guidance for RCS - X-ray determination of the concentration of crystalline silica respirable alveolar deposit NF X 43 -295 - Air quality at workplaces – Solid aerosols with rotative foam (respirable alveolar, thoracic and inhalable fractions) NF X 43 -262 CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

CIP 10 advantages During sampling • Light, robust, compact, (one piece) • Simple technology (no pneumatic parts) • Omnidirectional sampling with cap • Flow rate (easy to verify) • Battery life : 16 hours • ATEX : (included underground mines) CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

CIP 10 Advantages After sampling • High flow rate = more mg collected (> 3 mg) • = weighing done on a balance with 0. 1 mg resolution • = more accurate quartz analysis for short duration operations Cyclone Not required Do L/m rr-Ol in ivier Cy clo ne 10 mm 1, 7 CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP

III. Applications Dust sampling: - Wood (X 43 -262 standard) - Crystalline silica (X 43 -295 et X 43 -243 standards) Main Users: the aggregates, cement, ceramics, foundry, glass fiber, special glass, container glass, flat glass, industrial minerals, mineral wool, natural stones (quarries), mining, mortar and pre-cast concrete) sed by more than 2 million employees in the European Union. Some examples: Carmeuse, Rio Tinto, CIP 10 ● GABIE® ● AYRON ● ISOSTACK ● DECS® ● SKYPOST ● FLOWCAL ● ZOA ● CATARC ● ADP
