Americans v. Native Americans 12 • • • How did American’s justify taking these lands? Americans and Native Americans saw land very differently. Native Americans share land, don’t own it. Americans saw this as “unused” or “wasted” land. Americans wanted to “improve” the land divide it up and use it. This was the root of all of the bad parts of Manifest Destiny.
