Mandatos con Nosotros There are two ways to suggest that others do some activity with you. (Let’s…) You can use the construction vamos a + infinitive. Vamos a hacer las paces. Let’s make peace. You can also use a nosotros command. The nosotros command form is the same as the nosotros form of the present subjunctive. Ejemplos: Resolvamos el conflicto. = Let’s resolve the conflict. No reaccionemos tan rápido. = Let’s not react so fast.
Remember that -ir stem changing verbs have a stem change of e -i and o-u in the nosotros form. Mandatos con Nosotros Ejemplos: Pidamos perdón por el malentendido. = Let’s ask forgiveness for the misunderstanding. No durmamos al aire libre. = Let’s not sleep in the open air.
Mandatos con Nosotros -car, -gar, -zar verbs Verbs whose infinitives end in –car, -gar, -zar have a spelling change in the nosotros form of the present subjunctive, and consequently have the same spelling change in the nosotros command. Ejemplos: No critiquemos a nuestros padres. = Let’s not criticize our parents. Empecemos a pensar un poco en ellos. = Let’s start to think about them a little.
Mandatos con Nosotros DOPs/IOPs DOPs and IOPs are attached to the end of affirmative (+) nosotros commands, but they precede the negative nosotros command form (between no and the command). Ejemplos: Celebremos la amistad. Celebrémosla. = Let’s celebrate friendship. Let’s celebrate it. Digámosle todo. No le mintamos. = Let’s tell him everything. Let’s not lie to him.
Mandatos con Nosotros Reflexive verbs When attaching reflexive pronouns or reciprocal pronouns at the end of a nosotros command, we drop the final “s” of the command before the pronoun. Ejemplos: ¡Alegrémonos con sus éxitos! = Let’s be happy with their successes! Atrevámonos a darles nuestras opiniones = Let’s dare to give them our opinions!
