Mandatory Removal Dates (MRD) FOUO q Commissioned officers: maximum years of commissioned service or maximum age, whichever comes first, unless removed by other provision of law ü Maximum years of commissioned service • LTCs and below = 28 years • LTC(P)s and COLs = 30 years ü Maximum age • Age 60 • Secretary of the Army did not elect to adopt age 62 as authorized by law ü Twice non-selection for promotion • First day of seventh month after President approves the board • Subject to needs of the Army, approved for selective continuation (SELCON) Ø CPTs to 20 years of commissioned service if selected by SELCON board Ø MAJs to 24 years of commissioned service if selected by SELCON board Ø 1 LTs without Baccalaureate degree to completion of original MSO Ø Obligated STRAP 1 LTs to completion of original MSO or contractual STRAP obligation Ø CW 2 and CW 3 until max age (removal suspended) q Warrant Officers: Age 60 q Enlisted Soldiers ü Maximum Years of Service – suspended since 2003 ü Maximum age • Age 60 • Secretary of the Army did not elect to adopt age 62 as authorized by law 23 Jan 13 1

FOUO Creditable and Noncreditable Service q q q Commissioned service is defined as "Service as a commissioned officer that includes active status and active service as provided for in section 14706" of Title 10 ü The only exception to this rule is based in Title 10 Section 14706(a)(3), which excludes time a commissioned officer spends while in an advanced education program for appointment in a special branch. Section 14706(b) goes on to explain that the officer's Reserve commissioned service prior to entering the advanced education program to become qualified in a special branch does count toward years of commissioned service for MRD purposes Commissioned service in the following categories is creditable towards an officer’s MRD ü Selected Reserve: Troop Program Unit (TPU), Active Guard Reserve (AGR), USAR Control Group (Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) ü USAR Control Groups: Individual Ready Reserve (IRR), Annual Training (AT), Officer Active Duty Obligor and (OADO) ü Standby Reserve - Active Status List ü Army or Air National Guard ü Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Air Force Reserve ü Active Component service with the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard Commissioned service in the following categories is not creditable towards an officer’s MRD ü Standby Reserve - Inactive Status List ü Retired Reserve ü Inactive Army National Guard ü US Army Retired List, Permanent and Temporary Disability Retired List, and Army of the United States (AUS) Retired List ü Retiree Recall – retired officers who are ordered to active duty from the Retired Reserve or the retired list under Section’s 688(a), 12301(a), or 12301(d) and serves in his or her retired status ü A Soldier transferred from the Retired Reserve back to the Ready Reserve under provisions of Section 10145 is not a recalled retiree and their service would be counted towards their commissioned service 23 Jan 13 2
