Overview of the Mandarin Chinese language program at ISAAC Academy • Total hours per week by grade level – 2. 5 hour （3 classes） • Expectations and goals – Listening skills – Conversational skills for all grades – Writing skills for 1 st through 4 th grade

Current Goals by Grade Level • Kinder- conversational goal – Oral assessments only – Currently learning how to write numbers 1 to 10 – Recognize Mandarin words from You. Tube • 1 st - 4 th grade - oral and written language goal – Students are assessed on both – Students get evaluated three times a week. The average of the three evaluations is the weeks’ grade. • Chinese characters • Translations: from oral Chinese to written English and English to Chinese

How parents can support the students at home? • HW can be found in the school website for each grade level – What is typically assigned and how to help children? • Practice writing and pronunciation skills of the week • Practice Songs (you tube video) • Online resources that are helpful • App: Chinese.
