LETS BEGIN!!
What is the dolphins Habitat Dolphins are found world wide mostly in shallow seas of the continental shelves.
Physical Characteristics They are around 8 ft (2. 5 m) long They are greyish blue Their skin is sensitive and can be ruined against hard surfaces They have a blow whole on top of their head Their skin is rubbery and they do not have sweat glands
Anatomy • Dorsal fin • Blowhole • Melon • Eyes • Ears • Pectoral fin • Anus • Fluke • Median notch • Peduncle
Reproduction Dolphins may breed throughout the year. Certain breeding seasons have been observed and vary with location. Male and female dolphins have multiple mates in a given reproductive season.
Feeding habitats Dolphins are “opportunistic” feeders, meaning they will eat those fish, squid and crustaceans (such as shrimp) available to them at that time. The variety of foods available is dependent upon the geographic location of the feeding population.
Interesting Facts ²dolphins ² are believed to be very intelligent. ²Dolphins are carnivores Female dolphins are called cows, males are called bulls and young dolphins are called calves. ² Dolphins communicate with each other by clicking, whistling and other sounds.

I’m not a dolphin!!
Porpoise (Phocoenidae) they are related to whales and dolphins. Porpoise- has been used to refer to any small dolphin. Nick name "sea pigs“.
Habitat
Physical Characteristics The body of the porpoise is small in size. Maximum length is 6 feet. Maximum weight of 200. But most only get to 5 feet and weigh no more then 130 pounds It’s back is very dark gray or dark brown with a white belly
Anatomy
Behaviors of a Porpoise Harbor porpoises are found in pairs, or in small groups of 6 -10 animals. Because porpoises are shy and avoid boats, they have very few interactions with people. Until the mid 1940 s, they were hunted for food and oil
Eating habits The harbour porpoise diet consists of over 20 different species which includes Fish Squid Octopus and shellfish
Something to think about!!! But what about us?
Reproduction The cycle starts once the female porpoise reachs atleast 3 years of age Pregancy lasts 11 months The mother nurses the calf for atleast 8 months Calves start eating solid food at the age of 3 months
The Killer Whale (orcinus orea ) Deny Espinal
Habitat killer whales are found in all oceans and most seas They have enormous range and density They prefer higher latitudes and coastal areas.
Physical Characteristics The length is 18 - 32 ft Newborns length is 7 -8 ft They weigh 2. 6 tons At birth they weigh 395 pounds The killer whale has a round, blunt head. Large powerful jaws are lined with 46 to 50 spikelike teeth adapted for ripping and tearing prey but not for chewing.
Anatomy Eyespot Ear Eye Rostrum Dorsal Saddle fin Peduncle Pectoral Fluke flipper
Reproduction Females become sexually mature when they reach about 4. 6 to 4. 9 m (15– 16 ft. ), at about 6 to 10 years. Males become sexually mature when they reach about 5. 5 to 6. 1 m (18– 20 ft. ), at about 10 to 13 years. Many aspects of killer whale reproduction are not known because they are difficult to study in the wild. Much of what we know about killer whale reproduction comes from studies of killer whales in marine zoological parks.
Feeding habbits Some killer whales eat marine mammals including seals, sea lions, baleen whales, other toothed whales, walruses, and occasionally sea otters. Polar bears, reptiles, and many other animals have been found in the stomach of these killer whales. Adult killer whales eat approximately 2% to 4% of their body weight in food per day.
Interesting Facts Orcas have the second-heaviest brains in the marine mammal world. Orcas are the widest ranging mammals after humans. Because females can reach age 90, as many as four generations travel together. Individuals separate for only a few hours at a time, to mate or forage.
Continued… Spyhopping, when whales do this they hold there entire head above water, to us it is known as treading water. Spyhopping often occurs during a mugging situation where the focus of the whale is on a boat other than another whale.
