“The music of Reiki is already within us. A Reiki attunement/initiation allows us to begin to play this music. Reiki is a holistic wellness practice (like meditation, yoga or tai chi) that promotes balance and well-being in body, mind, and spirit. Reiki began as a spiritual practice to improve and maintain health; to cultivate peace of mind and to enhance our vitality and well-being. We don’t understand the mechanism of how it works yet but it seems to activate the relaxation response which enhances the body’s own natural ability to heal. “I practice Reiki. It can help you relax. It can help lessen pain or decrease anxiety. Can I offer you a few minutes? ” © copyright 2016 Kathie Lipinski kathiekaruna 95@aol. com

Making Reiki real for Health Care Professionals Ø Don’t teach them medicine/nursing/PT—teach them Reiki Ø Teaching a health care professional that is already on their spiritual path is different than teaching a person that is set in traditional medicine Ø Health care professionals are other oriented—not focused on self: make self-care easy, doable, practical Ø Many like procedures or protocol or technique or structure i. e. hand positions Ø Encourage them to begin by offering Reiki to peers/staff/friends or family (performance anxiety) Ø Talk about “healing moments”— anytime they are dealing with patients/clients they can offer their full presence — being fully available Ø Reiki can maximize patient or client contact time because it makes the most of a few minutes of touch. It can relax a person and calm their spirit. © copyright 2016 Kathie Lipinski kathiekaruna 95@aol. com
