MAKING PUPPET THEATERS

1. The first step is to nail stick legs to each corner of a wooden crate that has two sides removed. 2. Drape cloth from the bottom of the box and tack it around sides and front. Operators crouch behind theater. 3. You may also use pieces of plywood, heavy cardboard, or a self-standing puppet theater.

Role-playing. Is an unrehearsed, unprepared and spotaneous dramatization of a ‘”let’s pretend” situation where assigned participants are absorbeb by their own roles in the situation described by the teachers.

How is role-playing done? v It can be done by describing a situation which would create different view points on an issue and then asking the students to play the roles of the individual involve. v. Any kind of conflict situation, real or potential, is useful for role-playing or any situation in which real feelings are concealed.

1. Lay paper bag flat with the opening facing towards you and the flap showing.

2 Use art supplies such as paint, crayons, or pencils to draw facial features on the flap.

3 Lift the flap up carefully and draw a tongue.

Close the face and draw an upper lip under the nose and a lower lip just below the flap.

Add hair by cutting some lengths of yarn.

To use the puppet, put your hand into the bag and place your fingers in the flap. Move your fingers up and down to make it "talk. "

Postcript - dramatic experiences v. Dramatic experiences cater to students’ multiple intelligences. Plays, pageants, tableus, puppets and role-playing are obviously most fir for kinesthetically intelligent. v. These dramatic experiences cannot be implemented by individuals alone. v. Interpersonally intelligent student will have no difficulty relating and working with people as they plan, prepare and implement any of these dramatic experiences.
