Making a reaction timer How fast are your reactions? Get your partner to check your reactions by dropping a ‘fiver’ and seeing if you can catch it. Do this when you’re concentrating and when they’re trying to distract you.
Calibrating your ruler The faster your reactions the less distance the ruler will fall- the distance the ruler falls is proportional to the length of time it falls for. To calibrate the ruler you have to calculate how long it takes to fall every 5 cm. Use the equation to work out the time:
Measuring reaction time Find the reaction time of your partner. Is one reading enough? Calculate their average reaction time; should you include anomalies? What are the limitations of this experiment? What improvements can you make?
Factors affecting reaction time When you learn to drive there will be several factors that affect your reaction time, what will they be?
