Q 1. What make-up tools did I use and how? I applied red paint

Q 1. What make-up tools did I use and how? I applied red paint with a brush on the face to make a scar. To make the scar look more realistic I applied fake-blood and made it drip down the face; also I smudged fake-blood with a face sponge around the scar. Then I used tissue and vaseline to build up a wound on arm. Next I applied red paint with a sponge on the wound applied blood all over the wound.

Q 2. What problems did you encounter when applying the make-up? It was unusual

Q 2. What problems did you encounter when applying the make-up? It was unusual to apply make-up on other person’s face; also, the person kept moving her head and it was hard to apply make-up on her face. When I applied fake-blood on the scar it dripped down the person’s face. It was hard to create a wound on the arm, because at first my group didn’t have anything to create it with; once we finally found tissue we could use, we had difficulties to stick it on. Next time when I will apply make-up, I will make sure I plan what I need to do and make sure I have everything needed for it.

Q 3. What effect do you think your make-up will have on the audience?

Q 3. What effect do you think your make-up will have on the audience? I think the make-up I designed in the last lesson will make audience scared. The scar on the face would make them think the person went through horrifying; the wound on the arm will make them feel threatened and disgusted. The make-up matches the horror conventions, because scars and wounds tell us that there will be a lot of blood and threat in the film. The connotations of the scar and the wound I designed are blood, danger, death and injuries. The make-up I designed relates to my narrative and poster ideas by the design of the scar. One of my poster ideas is to create multiple scars on the face of the model that will have dripping blood from them and create a scary effect on the audience.
