Make a fish shadow puppet inspired by ‘ONLY ONE YOU’ by Linda Kranz
Look carefully at each of the fish on this front cover. What do you notice about them? What do you think this book is about? Share ideas with someone in your home or write your own list.

Have a look at the images of the different fish in the story. Think about and then discuss the following questions with somebody at home: - What do you notice about these fish? - What colours, patterns and shapes can you see? - Which fish is your favourite and why?
Creation Time Collect Some card (A clean cereal box will be fine) Paint, felt pens, crayons, bits from your recycling. Scissors, glue and perhaps a stick. You can use our template for your fish shape, or draw you own it is up to you.
Draw your shape onto the plain side of the cardboard.
Cut out your basic fish shape.
TOP TIP If you are creating a collage design using recyclable materials, stick on your design then trim the edges at the end.
Use paint, felt pens, pencil crayons, ink pens or collage to design and decorate your ‘Only One You’ Fish Puppet. Add fins and tails too, its up to you! Attach a stick and you can swish away!
Experiment with your fish in a sunny spot. Can you: Make the shadow move? Get bigger and smaller? What would happen to the shadows if you left a puppet in the same place all day? Could your puppets speak to each other as they swish and swim?
