Magnets: An Investigation Web. Quest for 4 th Grade Students By Kari Brody
Introduction • Each team has been given a new business to run. These companies sell magnets to the WHOLE world! Your team will need to help convince the people of the world to buy their magnets from your business.
Tasks • Learn about the basics of magnetism. • Student teams will name their magnet company and design a logo. • Students teams will then create a brochure to sell their magnets to the rest of the class.
Process • With your team review the section on magnets in our science book. • As a group write seven facts about magnets.
Process • Come up with a name for your company. Be sure it is something to do with the importance of magnets and be creative! • Work together to design your company’s logo for your magnet brochure.

Process • As a team design your brochure. Be sure it includes the following: • How magnets work • Why magnets are important • Uses for magnets • Types of magnets • Anything else you feel is important **Be sure your work is a team effort, clean, edited and well thought out. **
Process • Present your brochure to the class. • Include at least one example of a working magnet in your presentation. Use the magnets and supplies in our science area to choose your example.
Evaluation SCORED SECTIONS 1 2 3 4 Group Work Student did not participate in any group work. Student completed part of the assigned group work. Student worked on both group research and group final presentation. Student was an active participant during research, collaboration and final product. Individual Work Student did not do any assigned work. Student completed part of the online assignments. Student completed assigned tasks but work was incorrect. Student correctly completed all assigned tasks. Final Presentation And Brochure Group had no final presentation or brochure. Group had ONLY brochure or ONLY a presentation. Group presented a complete brochure. Group’s brochure was correct and accurate.
Conclusion In the end we can see the BIG difference magnets make in our lives! In your Learning Journal, write one entry explaining the three most important things your learned about magnets during your research. Why did you choose these three things? Explain your choices.
