What Magazine Designers do? Magazine Designers are responsible for visual style and images to a certain magazine. They create the finished design for a project. These designers also, help out others who develop art work and layouts. Magazine Designers approve of and create designs, artwork, photographs, logos, illustrations etc. Another requirement for these designers is to understand the elements of a design. Magazine Designers should be able to inspire other designers.
What kind of education and skills are needed to do this career? The education needed for becoming a Magazine Designer is a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Many of these designers start off working as graphic designers, fine artists, editors, photographers, or another art or design placement. Some of them earn their Master of Fine Arts Degree to show that they can take a toll on heavier jobs. Skills for becoming a Magazine Designer are communication, creativity, leadership, and time-management. These skills are required because Magazine Designers must be responsible, creative, social and organized.
How much money would I make in this career? In May 2012 the annual wage for being a Magazine Designer was $80, 880. The top 10 percent of these designers earned more than $162, 800. What kind of work environment and schedule does my career require? The environment in magazine designing is in a fast-paced office. They work under pressure to meet very strict deadlines. These designers work with other designers and staff. A magazine office is an indoors area. Magazine Designers can dress however they’d like, no uniform is required. Some tools in this career can be samples of art or fabric, magazines, pencils, computers, books, notepads, etc. Working as a Magazine Designer can usually be full-time, so most of them work about 8 hours a day.

Why I want to do this Career and how I plan to achieve it? I want to do this career because I've always been interested in the magazine world sense I was younger. I love reading and looking at magazines. Also, I really love to design. Being creative with a design is fun, you get to choose your colors, objects, photos, your whole canvas. When I look at one of my magazine’s I like looking at the artwork that has been put into it. With magazine designing you really get to express yourself and put out the message you want your design to say. To achieve my career I will graduate high-school, go to a 4 -year university and earn my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Maybe ill even try to get my Master of Fine Arts Degree. I hope to achieve this career in the future.
