Calibration strategy • statistical method (laser & LEDs) • physics • new method proposed by Vincent: – measurement of the anodic current with HV supplies: accuracy should be 0. 25 μA – LED tuned such that the anodic current is 100 μA – HV is adjusted in order to keep the current constant – LED monitoring is crucial: ensured by PIN diodes 3

PIN diodes • Hamamatsu C 8366 Photosensor amplifier equipped with • S 3399 or • S 5971 Amplifier and PIN diode have to be enclosed into a box. Input light comes through a SMA connector mounted in front of the PIN diode. 8

Final remarks • all material (fibers, connectors etc. ) available, prototypes under construction • tests should start next week at latest: – prototypes (laser and LEDs) – new calibration method (black box and R 762/R 760) • with the PIN diode, no need to have the reference PMT#4 in the PMT box • open points: – connections of calibration fibers with the PMT box – PIN diode in HO implies other SMA joint(s) 10
