Introduction • The pilgrimage to Lourdes was introduced to year 13’s who were taking

Introduction • The pilgrimage to Lourdes was introduced to year 13’s who were taking part in the Pope John Paul award. • Lourdes is located in the South of France and is a town known for where Saint Bernadette grew up in. • This trip is a great opportunity to travel somewhere new, go with friends and help those in need. • Its offered to teenagers as the same age as you and its definitely a great experience.

What is involved? • The trip is around the beginning of July. • It

What is involved? • The trip is around the beginning of July. • It usually lasts 5 days. • A group between 20 to 30 will go, but may vary. • You travel with two adults, and possibly a deacon. • A small fee between £ 100 - £ 150 will be asked from those who go. • However to keep this fee low there will be fundraising throughout the year. • During your time in Lourdes you help the sick eg. Pushing those in wheel chairs etc.

Fundraising • Throughout the year, those who decide to go on the trip, fundraising will be required to do to keep the fee low. • Your group leader will assist you on this, and different events like bag packs, fun days etc will be oragnised. • It’s essential to raise money in order to keep the price low and afffordable for the trip.

The trip itself • As well as going to Lourdes as a volunteer, you also get free time to explore the town. • There are loads of bars, restaurants and shops in Lourdes. • It’s also a great trip to meet new friends and just have a good time.
