The action is “reflected” back to the subject Examples of Non-Reflexive I cut the meat with the knife. Did you hurt her feelings? We dressed the baby. They washed the car. Examples of Reflexive I cut myself with the knife. Did you hurt yourself? We dressed ourselves. They washed themselves.
Spanish uses reflexive construction more than English. (In English, this is normally implied. ) Reflexive verbs are recognized by the pronoun “se” attached to the reflexive _____ infinitive form. Ejemplos: llamarse (to call oneself) Yo me llamo… I call myself… lavarse (to wash oneself) Ellos se lavan. They wash themselves.

What if there’s a verb phrase? When there are two verbs in a sentence (a “verb phrase”), the FIRST verb is conjugated and the second verb remains in infinitive the ______ form. ¿Recuerdas? Two options for placement of DOPs: Option 1: Place DOP before conjugated verb. Lo quiero ver. (I want to see it) Option 2: Attach DOP to infinitive. Quiero verlo. (I want to see it. ) Both sentences mean the same thing, we just have two different ways of saying it in Spanish.
This applies to reflexive verbs too… Ejemplo: Me acabo de acostar. I just went to bed. Acabo de acostarme. I just went to bed. **Notice the reflexive pronoun changed to match the subject of the sentence: “yo. ”

Necesitamos despertarnos. Nos necesitamos despertar. 3. She wants to bathe (herself). Ella quiere bañarse. Ella se quiere bañar. 4. Do you want to fall asleep? ¿Quieres dormirte? ¿Te quieres dormir?
