Equipment Inventory Requirements Education Code Section 35168 requires LEAs to maintain an inventory of equipment whose current value exceeds $500. 00 which was purchased with Categorical Programs funds. The District policy (BUL-3508. 1) require schools which purchased equipment using Categorical Programs funds costing over $500. 00, to maintain and readily have available Categorical Equipment Inventory.

Keeping Track of Equipment Upon arrival of any piece of equipment purchased with categorical program funds, the school must place a RED IDENTIFICATION label on it. This automatically advises those reviewing inventories, USDE, CDE, KPMG or SFP personnel, that the piece of equipment was purchased with categorical programs funds, whether it was Federal Title I, EIA-SCE, EIA-LEP and or SCH & LIB IMPROVEMENT.
