About this Psalm ▪A psalm of ascents (120 -134) ▪ Author unknown, but possibly Solomon – similar words to vs. 810 were quoted by him at the dedication of the temple (2 Chronicles 6: 41 -42) ▪ A Psalm calling the LORD to remember His promise to David
Lord, Remember David (1 -10) ▪ Remember David in his afflictions (1) ▪ A prayer – calling God to remember His promises (James 1: 4 -6, Hebrews 4: 16) ▪ David in his afflictions – David suffered often, and while flawed, David NEVER denied the LORD!
Lord, Remember David (1 -10) ▪ David’s vow (2 -5) ▪ He would not rest until he found a place for the LORD ▪ Either David is physically afflicted, or he is conflicted realizing the Ark is not where it should be

Lord, Remember David (1 -10) ▪ THOUGHT: Are we searching for the Lord? A place for Him to dwell in our lives? ▪ Matthew 13: 44 -46 Matthew 5: 6, hungering and thirsting after righteousness ▪ Are we “afflicted” as we seek to give God a home within us?

Lord, Remember David (1 -10) ▪ Let us go into His tabernacle (7 -9) ▪ A determination to serve God with purity. A resting place for His ark. ▪ Thought: True worship – John 4: 24, 1 Peter 2: 5, 9 – we are priests. Do we rejoice worshipping in His presence! 1 Thessalonians 2: 19 – our hope and rejoicing – you in the presence of the Lord Jesus at His coming
Lord, Remember David (1 -10) ▪ For your servant David’s sake (10) ▪ A prayer that He continue to remember His promises! ▪ Promises made to David 2 Samuel 7: 12 -16 David was not permitted to build the temple – 1 Chron. 28: 3, but he prepared everything for his son to build it ▪ Lesson: God keeps His promises! He remembers His Anointed
The LORD Answers (11 -18) ▪ I will set up your throne, the fruit of your body (11) ▪ Physically fulfilled in Solomon ▪ But the promise goes deeper Luke 1: 32, Acts 2: 30 -31, Romans 1: 3 -4 – Jesus is seated on the throne of David!
The LORD Answers (11 -18) ▪ IF your sons keep My covenant (12) ▪ Conditional! (see 2 Chronicles 7: 1720) For generations, David’s “sons” sat on his throne, until their rebellion resulted in their removal! ▪ Our conditional blessing – 1 John 1: 7, Hebrews 10: 38, 2: 1 -3
The LORD Answers (11 -18) ▪ The LORD has chosen Zion as His resting place (13 -14) ▪ See 2 Chronicles 7: 16, For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually. ▪ Will we respect God’s place and plans? Ephesians 3: 10 -11
The LORD Answers (11 -18) ▪ I will abundantly bless her provision (15 -16) ▪ Blessings abundant - Ephesians 1: 3 Provisions – cf. Matt. 5: 6, John 6: 35 Priests clothed with salvation – Titus 1: 2, in hope of eternal life Saints rejoicing – Rom. 1: 7, 1 Peter 2: 9 – priest proclaiming His praises
The LORD Answers (11 -18) ▪ There I will make the horn of David grow and prepare a lamp for My Anointed (17) ▪ Physically, the throne of David remained for centuries, until they ultimately rejected Him ▪ BUT, even then, ultimate fulfillment is in Christ as the Anointed – Luke 2: 32, Jesus is “a light to bring salvation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel. ”
The LORD Answers (11 -18) ▪ His enemies will be clothed with shame, but His crown will flourish upon Himself (18) ▪ Jesus defeated His enemies – cf. Philippians 2: 10, Romans 14: 11 – all will bow before Him ▪ Jesus has been exalted and rules, Acts 2: 36, 1 Corinthians 15: 25
God has established His kingdom! Are we dwelling in it?
