EL INFIEL Pero primero sobre la tierra, como Vampiro enviado, tu cadáver de su tumba será arrancado; después atrozmente rondarás el lugar natal y chuparás la sangre de toda tu raza; allí de tu hija, hermana, esposa, a medianoche agotarás la corriente de la vida; pero abominarás el banquete que por fuerza debe alimentar tu lívido cadáver; tus víctimas, aún antes de expirar, conocerán al demonio como su señor; y así maldiciéndote y tú maldiciéndolas, tus flores se marchitan en el tallo, pero una por tu crimen ha de caer, la más joven, la más amada de todas, te bendecirá con el nombre del padre… ¡Esa palabra envolverá tu corazón en llamas! Mas deberás concluir tu tarea y observar El último matiz en sus mejillas… el último destello de sus ojos, y su última y vidriosa mirada tendrás que ver, la que se congela sobre su inerte azul; luego, con mano impía arrancarás las trenzas de su rubia cabellera, la cual, cuando en vida se cortaba un rizo, era la prenda más preciada de cariño… ¡Pero que ahora tú te llevarás Como recuerdo de tu agonía! Mas con lo mejor de tu misma sangre gotearán tus dientes rechinantes, tus labios lívidos, y a hurtadillas a tu tétrica tumba, irás. … y con Gules y Afrits bramarás, hasta que ellos horrorizados se aparten de un espectro más maldito que ellos.
